Your fantastic full-day exploration of the capital of Europe starts at the ship's pier, where you will meet your friendly guide and driver before heading out of Zeebrugge.

The scenic drive to Brussels takes in many stunning landmarks, including the King Boudewijn Stadium, which was inaugurated onAugust 23,1930, in the presence of Prince Leopold III, just days after Belgium's 100th anniversary.

You will pass the Chinese Pavilion and Japanese Tower, both inspired by the 1900 Universal Exhibition in Paris, and also the royal castle of Laeken, the official residence of the King of the Belgians. Your guide will also point out the Cinquantenaire Park, with its triumphal arch.

Your first official stop of the day though will be a photo stop at the magical Atomium Statue. This unique monument depicts an iron molecule, and was erected in 1958 to celebrate the World's Fair, symbolizing the peaceful use of atomic energy for scientific purposes.

You will then enjoy an entertaining and educational guided walking tour that will take you to the heart of the Old City and the magnificent Grand Place, which was once a medieval market. Here you will view the ornate Baroque facades that adorn the old Guild Houses, continuing past the Town Hall and St. Hubert's Gallery, with its delightful arcade of shops. Winding down Butchers' Street, home to many popular restaurants and cafés, you will then visit one of Brussels' most famous sights, the 'Manneken-Pis.' This bronze statue is of a young boy whose irreverence epitomizes the spirit of Brussels, and is not to be missed.

Your guided walk is broken up by a fabulous three course Flemish lunch at a charming restaurant located near the Grand Place.

Afterwards, your walking tour continues, with some time built in the day for shopping. Enjoy browsing the many shops in Old Town and take home some fine Belgian chocolates, and maybe some exquisite tapestries or Flemish lace.

On the return trip to Zeebrugge, your bus will pass the Koekelberg Basilica, which was inspired by the Sacre Coeur Cathedral in Paris, and features two thin towers and a green copper dome that rises nearly 300 feet above the ground.
