Your tour begins as you board your motorcoach at Yorkey's Knob, one of the northern beach suburbs of Cairns. You'll cross the Barron River and ascend the lush rainforest slopes of the Kuranda Range while enjoying views of Cairns, the surrounding cane fields and the Coral Sea. Travel to Kuranda Village, nestled in the rainforest, and enjoy free time to browse among the shops and markets for exotically handcrafted goods and Aboriginal artifacts. Next, hop aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway to Freshwater Station. The Kuranda Scenic Railway was built from 1886 to 1891 to connect Cairns with the North Queensland goldfields. It's a spectacular journey through the Kuranda Mountains, with magnificent views of Australia's World Heritage Rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls that crosses 37 bridges and travels through 15 tunnels. Conclude with a relaxed drive to port.
