Shop and sightsee for half a day in the castle town of Wakayama. Your adventure begins with a visit to Kuroshio Market, a well-known fish market where you can eat and buy fresh seafood. Next on the itinerary is Kishu Toshogu Shrine. Built in 1621 to enshrine the spirit of Tokugawa Ieyasu, son of a feudal lord, the main and frontal shrines are Nationally Designated Important Cultural Properties. Step inside and you'll be impressed by the beautiful art of the Edo Period and a climb up the stairs offers stunning views of the city and Wakayamaura Bay. Finally, you'll visit the 16th century Wakayama Castle, one of the most important castles in western Japan. Sometimes referred to as the "White Castle" for its unique chalk-white walls, the tower offers panoramic views. A beautifully carved wooden gate and serene atmosphere are the hallmarks of your final destination, Kishu Toshogu Shrine.

There are about 300 steps and no lift at Wakayama Castle.Part of walking during the tour is on uneven bare ground.
