Step aboard your motorcoach for a full-day adventure that's devoted to some of the most fascinating sights in Wakayama, a castle town that was once the stronghold of the Tokugawa Dynasty, the feudal rulers of Japan during the Edo Era (1603 to 1868). First must-see sight is the 16th century Wakayama Castle, one of the most important castles in western Japan. Sometimes referred to as the "White Castle" for its unique chalk-white walls, the tower offers panoramic views of the city. Next, you'll visit the Tamatsushima-myojin Shrine, the inspiration behind some of the country's most beloved poetry. A beautifully carved wooden gate and serene atmosphere are the hallmarks of your next destination, Kishu Toshogu Shrine. Then, enjoy a relaxing stroll through Yosuien Japanese Gardens, a National-Designated Site of Scenic Beauty. Savor a delightful Japanese meal at a local restaurant during your tour.
