Visby, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is affectionately referred to as the "Town of Roses and Ruins." Learn why on this engaging tour that explores the area via motorcoach and on foot. A relaxed drive brings you to Almedalen, the former medieval harbor, now expansive parklands and the location for an annual political summit. Disembark for a walk toward Visby's oldest building, the Powder Tower, then continue through Fisherman's Gate to the Botanical Garden. Next, motor along the sea to Gallows Hill, a limestone cliff with views of the ocean. Photograph a collection of stone pillars, the ruins of Europe's only remaining gallows. Return to explore Visby with a walk across the bridge that spans the enclave's moat before entering this inhabited historical town through the 12th-century Dalmans Gate. Stroll down cobbled streets to a viewpoint above St. Mary Church to fill your camera with beautiful vistas.
