Lace up your walking shoes for a stroll around Valencia's Old Quarter. This comprehensive half-day tour begins with a drive from the pier and into the city's medieval center. Behold the enchanting architectural treasures such as the Central Market. Although the building was constructed in 1928 it stands on the site of one of Europe's oldest market places. Opposite the market is La Lonja, or Old Silk Exchange, which dates back to 1482. Quench your thirst with a frosty horchata before walking on to the Fallas Museum. The Fallas is a traditional celebration held in March to commemorate Saint Joseph. Giant carnival floats, puppets called ninots, and figures are paraded through the streets before being ceremoniously burned in a fallas (bonfire). However, some of them are saved and placed inside the museum. At the conclusion of your visit you'll return to the pier ready to plan your next Venetian adventure.
Special Notes:
Most stores in the Old Quarter are closed on Sundays. Many of the shops are closed during Lunch Time.
Take into consideration city regulations. No buses are allowed in front of the Central Market, City Hall and Railway Station and most of the historical center.
