Board your motorcoach for a brief drive through Trondheim's city center to Nidaros Cathedral. Founded in 1152, Nidaros Cathedral took 230 years to complete. The basilica houses the remains of St. Olav, Norway's patron saint. The western façade of the basilica is adorned with sculptures depicting Norwegian kings and saints. From the cathedral walk to the Archbishop's Palace. The oldest secular building in Scandinavia was built in the 12th century. Tour the Palace Museum, which exhibits artifacts from the Palace including the Archbishop's Mint. The Palace is also home to the Norwegian Crown Jewels. Reboard your coach and drive through the city to Kristiansted Fortress. Completed in 1684, the Fortress offers views of Trondheim and the Nid Estuary. The fortress also played a crucial role in repelling a Swedish invasion force in 1718.
