Slovenia may be under the radar but it's over the top in charm, idyllic villages and a picturesque coastline that hugs the Adriatic Sea. Discover this lovely area with a panoramic drive and an informative guide who will share the area's history and political significance. From Trieste your driver will head south into Slovenia. One of the first towns you'll pass by is Izola, once a small island connected to the mainland by a stony bridge until the 19th century. Continue to the town of Piran for some free time. Heavily influenced by the Venetians' 500-year rule, the city is a jewel of Venetian-Gothic architecture beginning with the town walls, which were constructed to protect it from foreign invasion. Turning inland, you'll drive among salt pans and olive groves to the traditional village of Padna. Here, you can browse the farmers market and sample local delicacies before returning to Trieste.
