Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Feel the centuries come alive as you embark on a fascinating excursion to two poignant destinations. First on the itinerary is the Roman city of Aquileia. Founded in 181 BC, it was destroyed by Attila the Hun in 452 AD. Your local guide will accompany you as you stroll among the excavations of Roman ruins. But its Basilica-originally built in the 4th century and restored between the 11th and 14th centuries in Romanesque and Gothic styles-is a stunning gem not to be missed. Step inside and behold the colorful and intricate mosaics on the basilica's floor. Measuring 750 square meters (over 8,000 square feet), the floor is the largest mosaic example in early Christendom. Your stroll through time continues to the site of the Redipuglia War Memorial. This mass grave on Mount Sei Busi holds the remains of 100,187 men who died during World War I.
Special Notes:
Note: Wear comfortable walking shoes. The War Memorial in Redipuglia may close in case of military celebrations. Not recommended for passengers using wheelchairs, scooters or with mobility difficulties.Details
