Board your motorcoach and travel from La Seyne sur Mer to the unique town of Aix en Provence. This charming city is the former medieval capital of Provence, and boasts elegant 18th and 19th century architecture, wide boulevards, charming sidewalk cafes, and wonderful shopping opportunities. During your walking tour, discover the elegant Cours Mirabeau, a wide boulevard dotted with magnificent fountains, and lined with cafes shaded by tall plane trees. Your guide will not fail to show you Paul Cézanne's, Aix's most favorite son and famed painter, favorite places such as the Brasserie Les Deux Garçons. Continue through the 17th century Mazarin Quarter and view the stunning 12th-century cathedral Saint-Sauveur. Then take time to freely browse the markets, galleries and lovely shops.
Back on your coach, you will head towards Marseille, France's second largest city after Paris. Your discovery of the city will begin with a panoramic city tour passing by the impressive Cathedral De La Major facing the newly celebrated Complex including the Mucem inaugurated in 2013 and the Villa Méditerranée, partially constructed underwater. During your tour, you will also drive along the Canebière, Marseille's popular boulevard and visit Notre Dame de La Garde Basilica. This renown Neo-Byzantine basilica, built between 1853 and 1864 dominates the city.It was consecrated on the 4th June 1864 and has been given the popular name of ' Bonne mère ' ( Good mother ) over the centuries by the pilgrims who were seeking its protection.You will then be given free time on the Vieux Port 'Old Harbor ' for lunch on own in one of the many restaurants and cafés and shop in the lively city centre.
After you have fully explored this delightful town, you will board the motorcoach for the relaxing journey back to La Seyne sur Mer, via the highway.
Special Notes:
This tour involves extensive walking over uneven and cobblestoned surfaces. Visitors to the Cathedral de Notre Dame must negotiate 167 steps to enter the Basilica. Not recommended for guests with limited mobility or in wheelchairs.Bring Euros or credit cards for additional purchases. Currency may be exchanged onboard prior to your excursion.
On certain days, this tour may be operated in reverse order. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
