An approximately two-hour picturesque motorcoach drive takes you through the beautiful Rif mountain range with colorful wildflowers, streams and idyllic landscapes. Arrive in Chefchaouen, a fairy-tale land of Arabian splendor where blue is the dominant color, giving this petite Moroccan hamlet its moniker, "The Blue City." Disembark and set off on a guided pedestrian tour down cobblestone streets to explore a thrilling labyrinth of indigo and cerulean houses, tiled mosques, and romantic archways. Founded in 1471, the town is considered holy. It began to prosper with the arrival of Muslim refugees escaping the Reconquista of Spain. Spanish, Berber, Arab and Jewish neighborhoods thrive here, coexisting in the four main quarters. A large plaza sits at the heart of the medina and is accessed through gates. It is home to the kasbah and the Great Mosque and leads to bazaars brimming with colorful handicrafts. A charming restaurant welcomes you with a traditional Moroccan menu. Reboard your motorcoach and enjoy the return trip through the hills back to your waiting ship.
