Quench your thirst for scenery, shopping and sips of whisky with a visit to the Isle of Harris Distillery, tucked on the shores of Loch Fyne in Tarbert. Established in 2015, the award-winning distillery was the first legal distillery built on Harris. Originally a gin distiller, in December 2023, it released its first single malt whisky. The adventure begins when you travel south from Stornoway to Harris Island, a landscape of hills and mountains. Following a warm welcome by the knowledgeable staff, you'll embark on a behind-the-scenes tour and learn how legendary libations like its whisky and gin are distilled. During the tour, you can sample two different drams of whisky. After your visit, you'll have free time in Tarbert, to explore, browse the nearby Harris Tweed Shop, or sit just by the fire in the Isle of Harris Distillery and share stories with your fellow travelers.
