Board your air-conditioned transportation and drive the Botanical Gardens for the start of your journey. Established in 1765, the paved paths and lawns of this venue comprise one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Western Hemisphere. After exploring the Botanical Gardens, enjoy a scenic drive through the lush Mesopotamia Valley with its cocoa, nutmeg, coconut and breadfruit fields. Narrow roads wind up and down steep, verdant hills blanketed by acres of banana trees, the island's main cash crop. Nestled deep in the valley are the Montreal Estate Gardens, home to 7.5 acres of bougainvillea, anthodium, frangipani and other tropical flora. Located at approximately 3,017 feet above sea level, the gardens feature a collection of exotic flowers and fruit trees. You will have free time to walk along the paths and take in the tranquility. A complimentary beverage is served before returning to the ship.
