Your day-long adventure starts when you board your motorcoach at Southampton Docks for a guided drive through beautiful English countryside to the heart of picturesque Berkshire. One of the late Queen Elizabeth's favored residences, Windsor Castle was built after the Norman Invasion by William the Conqueror, and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe. Walk through the serene courtyard, which is flanked by St. George's Chapel, to the breath-taking State Apartments. These elaborate rooms feature painted ceilings, panelled walls, large fireplaces, antique furniture and original paintings. Wander through the ceremonial rooms which were used by the Queen to entertain visiting Heads of State, and also the beautiful 15th century St. George's Chapel, where Queen Elizabeth II was laid to rest in 2022. Independently explore Windsor town, which boasts quaint Georgian shops, and enjoy lunch in one of the traditional pubs. View the Guildhall building which was completed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1689.
