Noto, one of the prettiest cities for Sicilian art, showcases a lovely historical center. Board your motorcoach for the one-hour drive to Noto. After the devastating 1693 earthquake leveled much of the city, the Duke of Camastra sprang to action and employed the best architects of the day to rebuild it to its former glory. The results are the exquisite baroque buildings, laid out on a grid system and hewn from the local white limestone, that unfold before you on a guided walking tour. Starting at the magnificent main gate of the Porta Reale, you'll wind your way down the Corso Vittorio Emanuele. Explore the gorgeous palaces and churches that flank the pathways, then climb Paolo Labisi's monumental staircase to the graceful Piazza Municipio, site of the remarkable Cathedral di San Nicolo, the Palazzo Landolina, and the Palazzo Ducezio with its impressive arches. Return to port, chatting with your fellow travelers about the wonders you have seen.
