View the Porta Trapani, one of three Norman town-gates, and the majestic14th-century Mother Church built from stones from the Temple of Venus. Bask in the breathtaking views offered at Erice's twin fortress castles: Pepoli Castle, dating from Arab times, and the Norman-period Venus Castle built on ruins of an ancient temple. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and time for independent shopping and sightseeing. Visit the ruins of the city of Segesta, built in the 5th century BC by the indigenous Elymians. Stroll among the 26 Doric columns of its Greek-style temple. Time permitted, your return journey takes you on a narrated drive of Palermo's historic district.
