See what life was like for Sicilians during World War II with a three-and-a-half-hour excursion to the Allied Landing Museum, Italy's largest museum devoted to the war. The sprawling 32,000-square-foot repository features a detailed account of the assault on Catania 70 years ago and Operation Husky, the Allies' amphibious and airborne offensive that drove the Axis powers out of Italy. After the city was liberated an armistice between the Italians and the Allied Forces was signed on September 3, 1943. A recreation of the signing is on display in the museum, as well as a number of moving reminders of the war such as the Memorial Room; dedicated to the heroes of the campaign, it's a poignant reminder of the cost of freedom. At the conclusion of your tour, you'll rejoin your coach for a brief sightseeing tour of Catania before returning to the pier.
Special Notes:
