Lerwick may be the capital of the Shetlands but it's also your passport to breathtaking scenery, thousands of breeding seabirds and, of course, the charming Shetland pony. Your adventure takes you south down the west coast and pauses at St. Ninian's Isle where you can walk across the sand and soak up the coastal views, sea stacks and cliffs. Back on the coach, you'll continue on to Spiggie Nature Reserve, the hospitable retreat for Shetland birds. Depending on the time of year, you may see Arctic terns, mallards and swans. More birds await your arrival at Sumburgh Nature Reserve whose craggy cliffs and grassy cliff tops are home to puffins, wrens, guillemots, razorbills and other winged creatures. Your final stop is Robins Brae Shetland Ponies, a 50-year-old family-run stud farm where you'll learn the history of this famed workhorse and have a chance to meet the ponies and take a selfie.
