Experience the natural beauty of Mainland, the largest Shetland Island, on a scenic drive that takes you through the picturesque countryside. You'll travel across a landscape of peat and heather-covered moors to Scalloway. Listen to stories about the history of the castle built by Patrick Stewart, the cruel 2nd Earl of Orkney. He built the castle in the late 16th Century to tighten his grip on Shetland. From Scalloway, you'll travel through the Tingwall Valley, an area of uninterrupted views of farmland, small lochs and streams. From the comparatively tranquil landscapes of the Tingwall Valley, you will head towards Weisdale Voe and a contrasting landscape of barren hills stretching away towards the coast, arriving at the Shetland Jewellery Workshop, where traditional Shetland Jewellery is still hand crafted into the Celtic and Norse inspired fashions.
