Spend the day learning about the traditional Icelandic way of life at the Wilderness Center of Iceland. Settle in for a lovely 45-minute ride through the idyllic countryside, passing Lake Lagarfljot until you reach the Wilderness Center. Here, During the drive, your guide will regale you with stories of the sea monster believed to lurk within the lake's depths, 300 feet below sea level. Reaching the Wilderness Center of Iceland, sometimes considered the 'Gate to the Highlands', to this living museum and experience the old way of life. You'll be escorted by locals who will share local lore, authentic music and their cuisine. At the old turf smokehouse, taste the mountain lamb right from the smoke hut, then enter a farmhouse and gather within the old-style kitchen to watch a cooking demonstration as a meal of authentic delicacies is served with local rhubarb wine.

The weather in Iceland is very unpredictable. Views are weather permitting. We highly recommend wearing sturdy, non-skid sole footwear and warm outerwear.Guests must be 20 years of age to sample wine.
