The town of Seydisfjordur lies at the innermost point of the fjord bearing the same name, surrounded by high mountains. The harbor is one of the best in the country, as the fjord is long and winding and sheltered from the open Atlantic sea. The town's history which dates around the 19th century revolves around the fishing industry and the community which grown up around it. We begin our walking-tour at the pier, passing charming wooden Chalet style houses which the town is known for. Continuing to the beautiful old wooden church of Seydisfjordur, often called the "Blue Church" and into the old town center with a selection of souvenir shops and the well-known "Rainbow Street". Taking a few minutes to explore that area on our own. After that we will continue our walk through the charming town towards the memorial for the landslide that hit the town in December 2020 caused by record rainfall which destabilized the hillside above the town.
