Enjoy a rigorous, full day volcano adventure that takes you via air-conditioned transportation to the base of the Mombacho Nature Reserve. Board a 4-wheel-drive truck and travel over 3200 feet to the top of the magnificent Mombacho Volcano. Take a guided hike around one of Mombacho's craters. Learn about the rich eco-system that includes thousands of species of exotic plants and animals, and a rare cloud forest. Enjoy a brief visit to the picturesque, colonial city of Granada (founded in 1524 by Spanish conquerors). Then stop at La Virgen Crossing for stunning vistas of some of Nicaragua's most beautiful landmarks. Take in the awe-inspiring beauty of the twin volcanoes, Maderas and Concepcion on the island of Ometepe. Marvel at the massive Lake Nicaragua, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world and home to a volcano chain, hundreds of beautiful islets and the only freshwater shark on the planet.

Special Notes:

Due to the popularity of this tour, multiple lunch venues may be used. Tour order may be adjusted to avoid overcrowding at sites. This is an active excursion for passengers in very good physical condition. The path may be slippery in places; wear appropriate shoes. The drive from the base to the summit of the volcano is on a narrow and in places steep road. A bottle of water will be provided for the hike. Sightings from the Mombacho and La Virgen Crossing depend on weather conditions and are not guaranteed. Drive time to Mombacho is approximately one hour and forty five minutes each way. Mombacho is a dormant volcano and the crater is covered by vegetation.
