- Sorrento
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Sorrento, the seaside town that lured Ulysses with its siren song, offers the quintessential Italian experience. Spend a half-day exploring independently, taking in all the splendors this lemon-scented enclave has to offer. Board the motorcoach and travel 1 1/2 hours along the coastline for views of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. A favorite destination for visitors and locals alike, Sorrento is a jumble of narrow streets lined with villas and quaint shops. Stroll along medieval alleyways, peek into artisan workshops and purchase Intarsia woodwork and of course limoncello, the delicate liqueur produced locally. Don't miss the Duomo, a 15th century Romanesque landmark, as well as several art museums with enviable collections. Horse-drawn carriages can be found in the center of town for a very romantic way to see the sights. Dig into wood-oven pizza and frosty gelatos when hunger strikes. Meet the motorcoach at the designated time and return to the ship.
Special Notes:
The drive from Salerno to Sorrento takes approximately 1 1/2 hours.Due to traffic restrictions of the Sorrento center, a short walk from the motorcoach drop off point to the main center and vice versa will be required.
