Step back in time on this engaging half-day tour that explores the ancient city of Al Balid. Begin with a drive through Salalah, the capital of Dhofar. Arrive at the City Market and engage with friendly locals as they purchase colorful produce and local delicacies. Continue on to the Al Husn Palace for a photo before heading to your next historical landmark, Al Balid. Along the way, view tropical plantations and camels, as they frequently wander along the roads. Arrive in Al Balid, an ancient merchant city that came to life between the 12th and 16th centuries. At the waterfront archaeological site, enjoy 30 minutes to explore the remnants of a grand mosque, palace, houses and tombs before viewing ancient frankincense trees. Conclude at nearby Salalah Museum, and stroll through two main halls, discovering the history of this region through archaeological findings. After this fascinating day, relax on a scenic ride back to busy Salalah port.
Special Notes:
In accordance with local custom, please wear clothing that covers the shoulders and knees. Due to restoration works, the Hal Husn Souk will be closed until the end of May. The tour will visit the Central Market instead of the Hal Husn Souk. While browsing through the Central Market, you can watch the locals buy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, frankincense and myrrh.Details
