Discover the lush city of Salalah, sometimes known as the "Garden City," and its spiritual and cultural highlights on this half-day adventure that includes time for photographs and shopping. Begin your picturesque motorcoach drive past Mughsail Beach and across the stunning Jubriah plain to Job's Tomb, where according to legend, the remains of the Muslim and the Old Testament prophet Job can be found. Pay a visit to this historic site, then continue through this diverse region viewing the rich tropical plantations that surround the city and go beyond to the vast expanse of the Arabian Desert. Pause for a photo stop at a desert wadi (valley) to see a tree that yields frankincense, the aromatic resin coveted since the days of ancient Egypt. Next, view Al Husn Palace, the personal residence of His Majesty, the Sultan of Oman, before heading to the Central Market for shopping. Relax on your return through the city to the ship.
Special Notes:
In accordance with local custom, please wear clothing that covers the shoulders and knees. Shopping may be limited on Friday and Saturday. Due to restoration works, the Hal Husn Souk will be closed until the end of May. The tour will visit the Central Market instead of the Hal Husn Souk. While browsing through the Central Market, you can watch the locals buy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, frankincense and myrrh.Details
