See how the pulp and paper industries changed the life of the Saguenay area with a visit to the century-old town of Val-Jalbert. From the pier you'll travel through Chicoutimi. Along the way stop for photos at the Pulp Mill. You will be able to take another photo driving by the Little White House, renowned as a symbol of the city's courage and determination after the 1996 flood, and the Pulp Mill, a 19th century testament to an era when pulp was king. Then, continue to Val-Jalbert Historical Village for a tour of the town known as "the best-preserved ghost town in Canada." Founded in 1901, the town saw success in the local pulp mill but was deserted in 1927 when the plant closed. Stroll tree-shaded streets lined with original period buildings and people in period clothes. Then, enjoy lunch before taking a cable car to the top of Ouiatchouan Falls for outstanding views. Finally, reboard your vehicle for the return trip to the pier.
