Explore both the picture-perfect Dutch town and its most famous export, cheese, on this engaging half-day adventure. Board your motorcoach and set off along the IJssel gazing upon Dutch countryside landscapes en route to the 17th century Hoogerwaard cheese farm. Upon arrival, enjoy the idyllic scenery and embark on a learning experience that introduces how the famed Gouda cheese (pronounced HOW-da) is produced--all the way from the cow to waxed rind wheel. You'll sample three varieties, then explore the picturesque grounds on your own. The day continues with a walking tour of Gouda City, dating back to the 13th century. Your stroll travels down Gouda's narrow cobbled streets and continue through the heart of the city. You'll see such highlights as the 15th century Gothic town hall on the spacious "Markt" town square before returning to port. In the event that the cheese farm is unavaiable, you will visit the Gouda Cheese museum. (RTM-180)This tour does not operate on Sundays or national holidays, as the cheese farm is closed. The tour in non-refundable 7 days prior to the cruise call.
