Lace up your hiking shoes and dress in warm layers as you embark on a three-hour adventure that hikes along Qaqortoq's picturesque lake, known as "Storesøen," a recreational spot favored by locals. Be sure to wear mosquito nets and repellent, and bring water and a snack from the ship. Your guide is eager to impart all the local lore as you walk through the colorful town to the trail head. As you traverse the rugged terrain, you'll take in the abundant scenic splendor, indigenous flora and fauna, and the wild and desolate Arctic landscapes. In contrast to much of the ice-capped northern regions of the island, South Greenland is surprisingly lush and green.
