Costa Rica's cultural heritage comes alive on this full-day adventure that visits the capital city of San Jose and several key highlights on a comprehensive driving tour. A scenic 90-minute drive takes you to the National Theater of Costa Rica, located on the corner of the Plaza de la Cultura. Built in 1897, this neoclassical structure welcomes you with its ornate foyer and an auditorium lined with 19th-century paintings. It is considered one of San Jose's most important landmarks. From here, continue to The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, an underground museum located below the Plaza de la Cultura that showcases a glittering collection of over 1,600 pieces of Pre-Columbian gold pieces and exhibits the process of creating the pieces and their significance. Pause for an authentic lunch in a local restaurant and walk the gardens before stopping at El Jardín for a chance to shop for souvenirs. Return to port.
