Explore Patagonia's pioneering past and natural beauty on a 4.5-hour tour of Magellan Strait Park and Fort Bulnes. Begin with a scenic motorcoach drive along the coast, with the iconic Strait of Magellan by your side. Your destination is Fort Bulnes, a national monument nestled on a bluff overlooking the strait. Established in 1843 by 22 pioneering settlers, this fort became Chile's first stronghold in the region, symbolizing the country's early claims on Patagonia. Explore the grounds and visit key structures such as the church, chaplain's quarters, jail, post office and stables. Next, embark on a hike through the natural landscapes that define Patagonia's rugged beauty. The trail leads through a native forest and along coastal shores, offering photographic viewpoints along the way. Conclude at the park's visitor center to sip a traditional Calafate Sour, a local favorite drink. Return to the ship after this fascinating day.
