- Aveiro
Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Established in Roman times, the small city of Aveiro sits along a lagoon and is criss-crossed by a series of channels that are traveled by boats called 'moliceiros.' Step aboard and you're off to explore the inland Aveiro channels, which boast calm waters and offer a 'highway' through the city past brightly colored buildings. When you come ashore, you'll head to the Oficina do Doce Fabric (The Sweet Workshop) to learn how to make a regional specialty--'ovos moles.' It may translate as 'soft eggs,' but this legendary confection is a delicious pastry made with a sweet egg yolk cream inside a thin wafer shell. Following a short video presentation that showcases Aveiro's history and culinary traditions, you'll witness the production process and join in and assist with the filling and cutting of these tasty treats. Of course, you'll be treated to samples before returning to the moliceiros.
