This former sugar factory turned museum will take you back to the days when the island was first discovered, the early cultivation of sugarcane and the different technologies used in sugar manufacturing. Browse the Sugar World boutique for souvenirs before heading to the amazing Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens for a guided walk. Species here include the talipot palm, which flowers every 60 years and dies shortly after. You may catch a glimpse of the live giant tortoises that live in a colony within the gardens.
