Come along on a mouth-watering journey through Port Lincoln as you discover the town's unique 'Seafood Story'. From the early days of the tuna fishing industry, to the largest commercial fishing fleet in the country, Port Lincoln's rich heritage is long and fascinating. Begin your tour at the Axel Stenross Maritime Museum, where you can peruse the many indoor and outdoor exhibits housing artefacts, relics and photographs. This museum is dedicated to two Finnish boat makers who arrived in the area in the early 1900s.
Next, take a stroll around the marina, home to the largest commercial fishing fleet in Australia. From there, you will visit a multi fish species processing factory for a 'seafood lovers' guided tour. Learn how to shuck an oyster and peel a prawn like a pro. You'll also get to witness the famous King George Whiting being filleted at high speeds. And it wouldn't be a 'seafood lovers' tour if you didn't get to sample the produce.
Afterwards, enjoy a fresh serving of fish and chips before making your way back to the pier. This is a truly enjoyable tour for those wanting to get a behind the scenes look at Port Lincoln's bustling fishing industry.
