Experience the thrill of feeding an elephant tasty treats as you travel to the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, one of Phuket's first and most ethical elephant sanctuaries. Bordering the Khao Phra Taew National Park, the refuge offers final homes for retired and injured elephants who have suffered from long working hours in the logging and tourism industries. During the tour, you'll learn the sanctuary's purpose and mission and how these enormous and intelligent creatures thrive in this environment. When you arrive by local transport, you'll watch an educational video detailing the need for Asian elephants' protection. Following a security/safety lesson, you can observe the elephants roam, bathe, forage and socialize from an elevated walkway that stretches across the sanctuary. Then, you'll have the chance to feed them their daily basket of fruits and vegetables. Later, enjoy shopping for souvenirs and semi-precious stones before returning to the ship.
