Head off the beaten path for a look into Phuket's geological past. Once covered in rain forest, Khao Phra Thaeo National Park is the only virgin, untouched rain forest left on the island. When you arrive, a knowledgeable guide and a park ranger will lead you on an approximately two-hour hike on a jungle trail. As you ramble through the forest of mahogany, evergreen, ficus and bamboo, you may see some local residents-tropical birds, deer, and flying foxes and you may hear the "whoop" call of a gibbon. Graceful streams gently cascade from the hillside and several rivers feed the jungle's rich ecosystem with fresh clean water and you may witness some wildlife stopping for a quick drink at the tranquil Nam Tok Tone Sai waterfall. At the conclusion of the hike, you'll stop and shop for souvenirs and local handicrafts en route to the ship.
Special Notes:
Note: This active shore excursion is suited for passengers in good physical condition. The hike takes place in the rain forest over uneven terrain, wet soil and leaves and potentially muddy conditions.Details
