During the early 20th century, wealthy fishermen built so-called "Herring Mansions." The finest of them is the Former Aoyama Villa, built in 1923. The two-story mansion resembles a Japanese castle in miniature; the interior features lacquered floors and corridors of zelkova wood. Next visit the Otaru Tenguyama Ropeway. Mt.Tengu, an Otaru landmark to enjoy the panoramic view of Otaru Port and Ishikari Bay. On a clear day you can see as far as Mt.Shokanbetsu and the Shakotan Peninsula. The glittering night view is one of the top three in Hokkaido. Your final destination is the city's historic Canal District. Developed in 1914, the canal is lined with restored stone warehouses that are today home to fine restaurants, cafés and shops. Enjoy free time to explore.

Parking lot from Otaru Canal is approximately 10 minutes walking so passengers need to walk.
