Nara and Osaka reveal their beauty and historic splendor on this comprehensive motorcoach tour that begins with an hour-long ride to Nara, Japan's first permanent capital. See Todaiji Temple, one of the country's most famous, first built in the year 728. Sika deer roam freely on the grounds of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside, the immense Great Buddha Hall at Todaiji holds a bronze Great Buddha statue. Walk to your next destination, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, one of the most beautiful and celebrated Shinto shrines in Nara, featuring over 3,000 stone and bronze lanterns. Pause for lunch at a local restaurant and re-board your motorcoach for Osaka. Magnificent 16th century Osaka Castle is the city's gold and white landmark. An impressive collection of historical artifacts is displayed, and the observation deck offers panoramic views. Finally, see Dotonbori District, the most visited commercial street in the city. Then, return to port.
Special Notes:
The drive between Osaka and Nara is approximately 60-minutes each way. Passengers should expect traffic and delays.This tour contains a lot of walk at Todaiji temple, Kasuga Taisha , Osaka Castle and Dotonbori district. A visit to the interior of the Treasure Hall at Kasuga Shrine is not included.
Passengers must walk uphill and climb stairs at Kasuga Shrine. There is a way for wheelchair (avoid dirt road) but there are some steps & stairs. With a help it is accessible.
Photography and video are not permitted inside Osaka Castle (3rd and 4th floors). The motorcoach parking lot is approximately a 15 minute walk to Osaka Castle.
An elevator is available at the castle; however, the elevator does not provide access to the observatory on the upper level (8th Floor). There is only one elevator available and congestion is expected.
The restoration work is carried out at Todaiji temple. Some parts will have been covered due to the restoration work and it might spoil the scenery.
This tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties.
