WHAT YOU VISIT

Jamestown Settlement
A 46-acre site sitting on the banks of the James River, Jamestown Settlement is a living history museum not far from the Jamestown archeological site. Enjoy a guided tour of the Visitor Center and Museum that chronicles the early beginnings of England's first permanent colony in the New World as costumed interpreters describe and demonstrate daily life in the early 17th century. Walk inside and stroll through the impressive exhibits, which include portraits, documents, furnishings, toys, ceremonial and decorative objects, tools, weapons and archaeological artifacts. Then, take a walk outside and find a recreated Powhatan Indian village and Fort James.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
Follow a path to the pier and see replicas of the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery ships that brought the colonists to Virginia in 1607. Check out demonstrations like the making of a dugout canoe, woodworking, musket making and watch blacksmith's forge metal objects. For a little hands-on history, you can play a game of corncob darts, grind corn or try on English armor.

WHAT YOU SEE ALONG THE WAY
As you depart Jamestown, you'll travel along Colonial Parkway, a 23-mile scenic roadway that stretches from the York River at Yorktown to the James River at Jamestown. You'll also drive through the quaint village of Yorktown and past the Revolutionary War battlefields. During this panoramic portion of your tour, you will also learn about Surrender Field, where General Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington in 1781.

Tour timeline may vary to avoid overcrowding, etc.
