Ideal for first-time visitors, this approximate 90-minute get-acquainted tour showcases Napier's most popular sights. What better way to take take them all in than by the Hawkes Bay Express, a custom-designed train vehicle built for the road with velvet-covered cushioned seats, spacious carriages, tall opening windows, with a bell that rings and a whistle that blows. Once you board at the pier, the train will chug its way along Marine Parade while engaging commentary points out areas of interest such as the unspoiled Cape Kidnappers, Art Deco architecture, Napier's main street/pedestrian zone and over Bluff Hill, a limestone cliff face overlooking the port of Napier. From here, the tour will continue through the vibrant bar and restaurant area and on to the old port of Ahuriri, the site of an estuary where over 70 species of resident and migratory waterbirds use as a feeding and resting area.
Special Notes:
There is no space for scooters onboard. This tour is suitable for guests with mobility restrictions who can manage 50 metres (150 ft) walk. There is only one step on the tour and that is stepping aboard the specifically designed carriages that lower to just 250mm, 10' inches.Details
