Cape Kidnappers, which forms the southernmost point of Hawke's Bay, is home to the world's largest mainland gannet colony. Explore this breathtaking area by 4WD vehicle and marvel at the sight of 20,000 gannets in their natural habitat. Watch the seabirds nesting, preening, dancing, swooping and diving into the sea. En route, you'll stop at Cape Kidnappers Station, a privately owned, 4,500-acre farm stocked with 8,000 sheep, cattle, and an 18-hole international golf course. Travel over rich farmland and traverse riverbeds, broad rolling pastures, steep gullies and breathtaking inclines to within a few feet of the gannet sanctuary at Cape Kidnappers. While you are here, enjoy a spectacular view of the rugged coastline from Hawke's Bay all the way north to Mahia Peninsula, from the brink of a cliff that rises 99 meters (328 feet) above the beach. Your return drive takes in the architectural highlights of Napier.

Special Notes:

Wear clothing suitable to the day's conditions and comfortable, sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Bring a hat, jacket and adequate sun protection. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair. A small snack is included; the snack is not a meal. Please note the drive time to Cape Kidnappers is approximately 45 minutes each way.
