During the Edo period (1603 to 1868), the castle town of Igaryu was a stronghold of feudal lords, samurais and ninjas. Walk in their footsteps with a visit to Ueno Castle, a National Historic Landmark. Originally built over 400 years ago, the castle you see today is a reconstruction that, unlike many other rebuilt castles in Japan, was made using the original materials. For a look at a typical ninja house, you'll stop at the Ninja Museum of Igaryu. Inside sits an original ninja residence that has been reconstructed with trapdoors, concealed weapons, secret passageways and revolving walls. While exploring this ninja house, see how many secrets you can find-before a ninja finds you! Your final stop is the town of Seki-Juku. A Post town well preserved Developed by the Seki Clan in the 8th century, its houses, warehouses and stores from Edo-era have earned an Important Cultural Buildings Preservation District honor.
