Experience Nagasaki as the locals do on this walking tour and public tram ride that features the city's most noted sights. From the pier, take a short walk to the station and board a local city tram. Enjoy a scenic drive through the bustling streets en route to the famed Peace Memorial Park. You will see many diverse sights and will get a comprehensive view of everyday life in Nagasaki. Walk to the one-Legged Torii Gate and Atomic Bomb Museum where you'll see a permanent exhibit of photographs and artifacts. Also view the monument that marks the center of the atomic blast. Continue walk to Peace Memorial Park is located near Ground Zero, the center of the blast. The 30-foot-high "Statue of Peace" is a symbol of world Peace. Return to port via the local tram.
Special Notes:
This tour involves 3 - 3 1/2 hours of walking and standing. Nagasaki is hilly; passengers must walk uphill, climb steep steps and walk over uneven surfaces. Passengers must be in good physical condition and wear comfortable, low-heeled walking shoes. No part of this tour is conducted by motorcoach.Passengers should bring local currency for any purchases and a bottle of water.
This tour includes sensitive material including graphic pictures and displays on the atrocities of war.
The public tram is sometimes crowded and not designed with the comforts found in normal tourist transportation.
A minimum of 20 passengers is required for this tour to operate.
