Description

Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.

Excursion originates at the lodge and ends in Talkeetna where guests will depart by rail. Transportation to excursion provided by the McKinley Princess Talkeetna Shuttle.

Get ready, get set, go fish. Experience Alaska sportfishing at its finest aboard a specialized jet boat or raft. Leave the historic village of Talkeetna behind and prepare for a tranquil day fishing in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. On board the vessel you'll see that all the top of the line tackle and fishing gear for spincast or flyfishing has been provided for you. The crew of talented and knowledgeable guides will show you the choicest fishing spots along the wild Talkeetna River, which is known for its premier Coho salmon.

With the grandeur of Mt. McKinley hovering in the distance, and depending on the season, experienced and novice anglers have a chance of catching Alaska's state fish - the Chinook (King) salmon, one of the most important sport and commercial fish native to the Pacific Coast of North America. Rainbow trout, grayling, and Dolly Varden are also known to inhabit the river and if you catch one or a boatload, the catch and release program ensures little environmental impact to the pristine area.

Special Notes:

For guests flying in to Anchorage, and heading directly to the McKinley Princess Lodge, you should arrive to the airport at least five hours prior to booking any excursions in this location.

Spin and fly-fishing gear, tackle, rain jackets and guide will be provided. Fishing licenses are required for anyone 16 years of age or older. Licenses are available for purchase through your tour guide. Cook My Catch is available for this excursion, please see the Guest Service desk for more details. Program applies to Salmon only.
