Board your air conditioned van for the approximately 1-hour drive to the Ho'olawa Valley, traveling Maui's rugged coast and enjoying views of the sea, rainforest and mountains. Join your guides at the trailhead and set off on a two-mile roundtrip hike through the Ho'olawa Valley. Your escorts are expert naturalists who have won renown as virtual encyclopedias on Hawaii's botany, geology and natural history. Your route travels through a classic Maui valley of tropical rainforest, bamboo groves, ferns, tropical vines and flowers. Running streams cross the valley floor. The Ho'olawa Valley is renowned for the number of its waterfalls: these falls range in height from 10 feet to 40 feet, and all feature pools that are perfect for a refreshing dip. Swimming and wading are optional.
Special Notes:
Minimum age is 10 years. Participants should be physically fit and should be able to hike in muddy, rocky terrain, across streams and up and down a few steep inclines.Wear your swimsuit under your clothes and wear sturdy, comfortable walking or hiking shoes and expect them to get wet. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hat and a towel.
