Prepare to unwind in the tranquil setting of two of Matsuyama's most peaceful sites. Your half-day adventure begins with a dip in the calming waters of Dogo Onsen. With a history stretching back over 1,000 years, Dogo Onsen is the oldest and most famous hot spring in the country. When you arrive, you'll walk to the Asuka-no-Yu, a new bathhouse built in the architectural style of ancient times. Inside is a spacious public lounge where you can ease into the soothing hot springs. Relaxed, you'll rejoin your coach and continue on to the Ishiteji Temple, a sprawling Buddhist compound that boasts a three-storied pagoda, various statues and a unique inner temple connected to the main grounds via a cave. Its Niomon Gate is a Designated National Treasure and the main hall and pagoda are Designated Important Cultural Properties.
