The quaint town of Aix-en-Provence is a sunny enclave brimming with historic landmarks and colorful cafés serving delectable local cuisine. Your half-day adventure begins with a walking tour that showcases Aix's beauty, the inspiration for many artists, including former resident Paul Cézanne. A 30-minute scenic drive brings you to the city center, where you'll proceed down the grand Cours Mirabeau, a wide avenue shaded by 200-year-old trees, once the social hub for the French elite in the 1650s. Admire the elegant façades of the mansions and enjoy the spray from its romantic fountains. Continue on to the old Mazarin District, where you'll find the St. Sauveur Cathedral with Romanesque, Gothic and baroque architecture dating back to the 15th century. From here, your guide will escort you to a fromagerie (cheese shop), where you'll enjoy a wine and cheese pairing in a relaxed setting. Enjoy the drive back to Marseille.
