This intrepid excursion starts at Marseille pier, where you will head to Lourmarin, a charming village at the foot of the Luberon Range. Once the home of novelist Albert Camus, you will see why it was a perfect hideaway for a writer thanks to its great serenity and beauty. Dominated by its striking Renaissance castle, explore the narrow streets before winding your way through the picturesque countryside, to Aix-en-Provence, which sits at the foot of the Sainte Victoire mountain. Stroll through the beautiful village and view the Old Town, with its 12th-century cathedral, Archbishop's Palace and clock tower. Shopping is a must, and you may also wish to seek out one of the region's sweet specialties, the Calisson d' Aix - diamond-shaped candies made out of almonds and preserved melon. Find a café to enjoy a tasty Provencal lunch before heading back to Marseille.
Special Notes:
Euros are required for entrance fees as well as for purchasing lunch and refreshments. The tour is unguided but there will be an English-speaking escort onboard the transfer motor coach; however they will not give any commentary during the tour.
