Travel from Malaga to Mijas, a traditional Andalusian village, for a touch of history and a taste of wine. Mijas is charming resort divided into two distinct areas. Here, you'll view the Church of La Inmaculada Concepcion and Virgen de la Peña (Virgin of the Rock), patron saint of Mijas, excavated in a rock circa 1682. After about an hour of free time, sightseeing and shopping on your own, you'll drive back to Malaga for a stop at a typical Spanish cafe where you will sample Malaga Virgen, the famed sweet wine made from local muscatel grapes. Next, you'll arrive at the Malaga Cathedral that boasts a unique blend of styles -a Baroque facade, a Gothic floor, a superb Renaissance altar and magnificent Baroque choir stalls.
Special Notes:
Tour groups are not allowed inside the Cathedral or churches during mass services. Entry will be allowed on an individual basis to view the interior quietly and reverently; guides will explain the cathedral from the outside.Malaga Cathedral is open on Sundays, but during mass services, only individual visits are accepted. Guide will explain the Cathedral from the outside.
This tour includes approximately 2.5 hours of walking over varying terrain.
