Be sure to read the Special Notes further down this page for important requirements and restriction.
Nature lovers will appreciate the beautiful area north of Kyoto called Amanohashidate. Explore the town on your own during a 2-hour free time. Since the 17th century it's been acclaimed as one of Japan's three scenic views. Situated on a sandbar in Miyazu Bay, the name roughly translates as "Bridge to Heaven" believed to be a pathway connecting heaven and earth when viewed from the mountains that rise above it on either side. Formed thousands of years ago, this beloved landmark is home to 8,000 pine trees and fine sand beaches. At the north end of the sandbar sits the Motoise Kono Shrine, the most important Shinto shrine in northern Kyoto Prefecture. For more breathtaking views of Amanohashidate, you'll step into a cable car that glides 130 meters (426 feet) up the side of Mt. Nariai to Kasamatsu Park Observatory. Revel in the sight some believe resembles a sinuous dragon rising towards the heavens.
