View the sights on a narrated drive. This half-day tour is ideal for those who prefer little walking. Travel to the island's southeast coast and see the following sights: At Machico, discover a once sleepy fishing village where the first settlers first landed in the 15th century. Today it's a lively holiday resort.Next is the small village of Porto da Cruz with the Eagle's Eye, the massive rock formation towering some 1,800 feet above. At Porto da Cruz, enjoy dramatic views of the sea and mountains, passing Faial to Ribeiro Frio, Madeira's trout hatchery, boasting lovely manicured grounds.Climb through woodlands to Poiso Pass, which rises 4,308 feet and offers views of the island's highest peaks, Pico Ruivo and Pico do Arieiro. Descend to Terreiro da Luta, once the terminus of the old funicular railway. Finally, drive through Monte to Funchal en route to your ship.
Special Notes:
Comfortable walking shoes and warm cardigan / jacket is recommended, as Madeira has a micro climate.Visibility from all scenic outlooks is dependent upon the weather and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
